Week One: 25th – 29th July 2022
Orchestra & Wind Band Week 8-18 years
Join our fantastic wind bands and orchestras exploring all genres of music. Students will have the chance to play in groups tailored to their ages and stages. We have students from grade 1 to post diploma standard. Repertoire is chosen by our specialist professional music staff after spending time with their groups on the first morning so that it is the appropriate for everyone in their sections. Our advanced players also have the benefit of chamber music sessions and workshops with leaders from top London orchestras and ensembles. This year our group leaders are from the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Music College, a BBC Young Musician of the Year and professional musicians from the top British orchestras, supported by students from the London music conservatoires.
Extra non-musical activities each day allows time for making friends and team-building. A week of learning, socialising and performing with a final concert at 7.30pm on the Friday where parents, grandparents, friends and hangers-on are all welcome to attend! Please bring a packed lunch each day and be ready for action. The course will run from 9.30am – 3.30pm Venue at Katherine Warington School, Harpenden.

Both weeks include the Step up to Music course for our younger members, aged 5-7 years.
Step up to Music runs alongside the main courses from 9.30am – 3.30pm at Katherine Warington School, as an introduction for our younger members to instruments and music-making. This year we have a Space theme which will be the base for all the musical games, songs and compositions that the children will take part in over the course of the week. Children are introduced to the instruments of the orchestra and have an exciting week of music-making that culminates in a wonderful concert at 3pm on the Friday showcasing all of their hard work from the week.
This course is for children who have not yet started learning an instrument or who have been learning for a short time.
Musicale Summer Holidays will be celebrating 45 years this summer!
